2nd Annual CALL Sundog Tournament
Save the date and start building your teams for September 22, 2018. This is a softball tournament that benefits the Central Accomack Little League in Onancock, Virginia.
The Sun Dog Tournament originated when a group of friends got together and wanted to find a way to memorialize a dear friend who had passed earlier in 2017. Tiffany Lewis Smith was a beautiful, kind, and giving soul who gave a great deal of her time to different community activities including Central Accomack Little League. Her children played baseball, her husband coached, and if she wasn't there to support and watch her own kids, she was there to support someone else's. The idea of a playground that would not only benefit the little league, but the community as a whole, seemed to be the perfect way to show how much she meant to us all and give back to the community, which was so important to her.
Last year, we were blessed with beautiful weather and a wonderful show of support from her friends and family of all ages. Everyone had a blast and the energy and love embodied everything she stood for. With the money from the tournament last year along with a very generous grant from the Eastern Shore Community Foundation, the playground was ordered and should be delivered before the tournament this year. Surfacing and fencing for the playground are still needed, so this year's tournament will be raising money to complete the project. Be on the look out for more information on how you can donate.
Thank you for helping us have a successful fund raiser last year in Tiffany Smith's memory. After applying for four grants, we finally got a $45,000 grant from the Eastern Shore Community Foundation, so with the generous donations from last year and our grant, we should be able to have a rockin' playground. We are currently planning with the playground company and hope to have it built and ready for this tournament.
